- The gateway into Old Town Bratislava
Location: Bratislava, Michalska Street, historic district
St. Michael’s Gate (51 m) and St. Michael’s Tower date back to the 14th century marked by the city fortifications. In the past a drawbridge and a portcullis fortified the city‘s entrance. St. Michael’s Gate was named after St. Michael’s Church and was rebuilt in the 18th century. As a result, it has a distinct Baroque appearance. In the tower you will find the statue of St. Michael and the museum of arms. The upper balcony offers an interesting view of the city.
A null kilometre marks the spot under the gate and represents a marking point for measuring distances between Bratislava and other cities.
